IHP kicks-off a Diabetes Prevention Program cohort October 19, 2018
IHP is offering a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approved Diabetes PREVENTION Program (DPP).
A new cohort starts Friday October 19, 2018. If you are at high-risk of developing type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed with prediabetes and would like to take ACTION to prevent the onset of the disease, DPP is the program for you!
DPP is a lifestyle change program which prevents or delays the onset of type 2 diabetes. The program is led by IHP’s certified Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coaches with primary goals to lose 5-7% of your body weight (10-14 pounds for a person weighing 200 pounds) and work up to and sustain 150 minutes of physical activity per week. These goals are met through education on nutrition and physical activity and their collective impact on a healthy lifestyle.
Participants attend in-person, one-hour sessions, once per week for 16 weeks to complete the Core session material. These Core sessions are followed by monthly Post-Core sessions for the next 8 months. The program spans a 12-month period in order for participants to receive education and support necessary to implement and maintain long-term lifestyle changes.
Features of the program include:
